With MultiCom MV you can easily control up to 64 RS-232 or RS-422 ports from within LabVIEW for Windows. Each MultiCom channel can be programmed individually for:

• Baud rate (300 - 230.4k baud)
• Handshake protocol (RTS/CTS, XON/XOFF, or DTR handshake)
• Data bits (7, or 8)
• Stop bits (1 or 2)
• Parity (none, odd, or even)
• RS-232 or RS-422 mode (switch selectable with RS-422 capable hardware)
• PCI or PXI format

MultiCom MV is a complete solution. Included with the 8 or 16 channel PCI/PXI bus high-speed serial board is the LabVIEW VI driver which controls the MultiCom board. By using four of these boards, you can increase your serial channel capabilities to 64 channels.

The MultiCom PCI/PXI card is designed with an on-board 36 MHz microprocessor, requiring no computer IRQ lines for data flow.

MultiCom MV consists of a PCI or PXI-bus card, a three foot cable, and an external panel which contains either 8 or 16 DB-25 serial port connectors.

The MultiCom hardware comes in a wide variety of configurations to best fit your application. For 8 and 16 ports, the hardware options include:

• RS-232 only
• RS-232 and RS-422
• Surge protected RS-232 and RS-422

Other hardware options include a 16-port rack mount setup with RJ-45 connectors and an 8-port RS-232 card that cables directly to your devices.

For your peace of mind, the MultiCom hardware is provided with a limited five year warranty.

Additional Powerful Features MultiCom MV provides you with powerful features not found in the LabVIEW serial library.

A second Serial Read Virtual Instrument (VI) provides timeout capability and End-Of-String (EOS) detection for those difficult serial instrument parsing tasks. A second Serial Write VI provides timeout capability when handshaking leads to data transfers that continuously wait for the receive buffer to be cleared.

The states of the RTS and DTR lines can be set and the status of the CTS and DSR handshaking lines can be reported.

MultiCom MV Icons The MultiCom MV icons are designed to look and act like LabVIEW's serial VIs. You can tell a MultiCom icon from a LabVIEW serial icon by the small "m" in the lower right hand corner.
