Greetings,
NI Technical Symposium
Viewpoint will have a booth at the
Rochester event on October 19 and the Pittsburgh event on October 21.
We will be presenting a technical session at each as well on using LabVIEW
efficiency and best practices for LV realtime project development. If you have not already registered please use these links Rochester, Pittsburgh. We hope to see you there.
We Are Published
You may remember the ‘Cool Project’ we
reported back in March this year about the work we did with GDJ Inc.
using cRIO and web-enabled technology to remotely monitor and control
several pieces of equipment such as single cylinder engine dynamometer
test cells, turbine engine test cells and wind tunnels.
Now, an article about the project for
wind tunnels has appeared in the latest issue of Wind Tunnel International.
Check out page 39 in the following link: http://issuu.com/magazineproduction/docs/wti_issue_2_2010_ezine/40
Cool Project
One of our clients wants to record
some acceleration signals for structural monitoring in hard-to-reach
locations. We’ve coupled the cRIO with wireless Ethernet capabilities
(WiFi, WiMAX, or cellular) to form a network of continuously acquiring
systems connected to a central monitoring system (CMS). Plus, the Extended
Temperature version of the cRIO handles the outside environment temperature
swings.
The cRIOs do sophisticated waveform
calculations, alert the CMS with summary data when alarm levels are detected,
and upload waveforms when requested.
Let me know if you are interested in similar
capabilities for your projects. We can help.
Thanks for reading!

Gauge
Repeatability and Reproducibility
|
Over the last few months, our accuracy
and precision theme has ranged from variations due to measurement instrumentation
to variations due to test operators. See the July and September
articles for details.
This month will combine all these variations
and discuss a method to separate the contributions from the test equipment,
the test operators, and the product itself. The method is called Gauge
R&R and is a common tool for statistical analysis of the performance
of a test system. This method can be fairly easy to use; you don't have to be a statistician! Also I discuss how
to analyze the data using standard LabVIEW VIs which can be downloaded from our website at the link here. Read more...

Bibliotheca Alexandrina |
As the largest library in the ancient world, the Royal Library of Alexandria was a major center of scholarship and knowledge. On October 16, 2002, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina was officially dedicated as a celebration and attempted recreation of the ancient library.
The new library boasts shelf space for roughly 8 million books. The Library complex also is home to museums dedicated to the Antiquities, Manuscripts and the History of Science, as well as a planetarium, a conference center, gallery space for art exhibitions, and a number of academic research centers.
While commemorating the past the Bibliotheca Alexandrina has moved in to the digital age. The new library maintains the only copy and external backup of the Internet Archive, which is housed thousands of miles away in San Francisco.
