Viewpoint Updates

Exciting things are happening at Viewpoint. Some highlights are:

• Aperio appeared in the June issue of Aerospace Testing International
• We’ve hired additional staff since the last eNews
• We’re hosting a seminar on part traceability on June 26
• We’ve see strong growth in Machine Vision applications

 

Aperio Appears in Aerospace Testing International Magazine
The June issue of Aerospace Testing International (www.ukipme.com/mag_aerospacetesting.htm) includes an article on managing test data which discusses our latest product Aperio (www.myaperio.com). Aperio is a web-based application with a backend database designed for companies that collect related test data across multiple test stations. Aperio accepts data from almost any source with no change in your processes. Aperio provides search, analysis, and report capabilities.

 

Viewpoint’s Latest New Hires
Dan Butch joined Viewpoint Systems as a System Engineering Co-Op in May 2008.  He is currently a senior at Buffalo State College studying Electrical Engineering Technology.  Dan is developing his expertise in control systems and data acquisition during this Co-Op, hopefully moving from novice to expert while here at Viewpoint Systems.  Outside of work Dan enjoys hiking the Niagara Gorge, making a delicious honey bourbon marinade for chicken or pork, and tinkering with analog op-amp circuits for his electric guitar.

Casey Meixell joined Viewpoint Systems as a Systems Engineering Co-Op in May 2008.  Casey just finished his fourth year at RIT studying Electrical Engineering Technology where he enjoys working on problems involving hardware/software integration.  When not studying or working, Casey enjoys playing volleyball and lacrosse.

 

 

Part Traceability Seminar
Viewpoint is hosting and assisting in the presentation of a seminar on traceability. Seminar content will include:

• Part ID marking and various standards such as 2D matrix, the DoD UID, and FDA marking requirements
• ID reading equipment and lighting
• Databases for the management of data associated with the part ID
• ID quality standards such as from AIM DPM
• Equipment vendors and solution providers will be presenting and demo equipment will be available for review

Machine Vision Applications
In addition to the many National Instruments-based machine vision applications we’ve done over the past 10+ years, Viewpoint was recently honored to become a Certified Cognex Integrator. This certification is based on certified training of our engineers with Cognex products and demonstration of successful integration of Cognex products in actual applications.

Our long term experience with lighting, lens, camera mounting and fixturing, and image processing expertise dovetails tightly with the products offered by Cognex, specifically the Insight and PC-based solutions. Several of our applications integrate Cognex and LabVIEW.

Now we can offer the best solution for both PC and smart camera challenges for both manufacturing and product development.
