James A. Campbell, Ph.D.
President

Jim Campbell has been president of Viewpoint Systems since its inception in 1992. Jim maintains an active role in the day-to-day operation of Viewpoint. He has over 30 years experience and strength in system integration, project management, software development, numerical / statistical computing, experimentation and signal and image processing. Jim’s active involvement in scheduling, supervising, planning, designing and creating has made him a great leader with respect to the success of Viewpoint today and mapping Viewpoint’s direction for the future.

Jim’s 30 years of professional experience working with Medical College of Virginia, Hoffrel Instruments and Asyst Software Technologies has given him the knowledge and expertise to grow and ignite Viewpoint as one of the premier systems engineering companies in New York State.

Jim serves on executive boards for the High Tech Business Council of Rochester, the Industrial Advisory Board for Computer Engineering at RIT, and the Control Systems Integrators Association, a worldwide organization dedicated to the promotion of best practices for system integration.

Jim holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of Rochester and a B.S. in Physics from Bucknell University. Jim is a father of two children, both of whom are artists. He enjoys all outdoor activities, but mainly cycling, running, and XC skiing, and looks though telescopes whenever he can. He enjoys the 4 seasons in Upstate New York (bring on the snow!) with his wife Melodye, who is an avid daylily lover.

Frederick J. Genett
Vice-President

Fred Genett has been vice-president and a co-founding member of Viewpoint Systems since 1992. Fred’s strength in product development, product support and company liaison for managed accounts have made him a crucial link to the success of Viewpoint Systems. Also, Fred’s experience in designing analog and digital circuitry and development of new software for data acquisition and control has created a more diversified Viewpoint Systems. Over the past few years Fred has concentrated his efforts in business development and account management. With Fred’s support and directive, Viewpoint is being proactive to their clients needs, becoming a true partner in the systems engineering industry.

Fred has over twenty six years of professional experience. Prior to Viewpoint Systems, Fred worked for the University of Rochester and Keithley Asyst Software Technologies.

Fred entered the workforce with a B.S. in Biology from SUNY Geneseo, and then part time he took the path of Electronic Technology at Monroe Community College, Electrical Engineering at the University of Rochester, and finally matriculated into the MSEE program at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Now that Fred has successfully herded his two kids off to college he is trying to remember what he used to do before he was busy being a parent. He enjoys the outdoors, travel, music, and especially spending time with family and friends.

David M. Loucks
Systems Engineer

Dave has fifteen years experience in project, equipment and processing engineering, manufacturing and calibration. Dave has been a project leader on various company projects. Focusing on managing resources from start to finish, Dave has enabled Viewpoint to continuously improve our delivery of services and products to our customers. Regardless of the detailed, dynamic requirements involved for completing a project, Dave stays focused and utilizes his customer management skills to keep everyone involved on target for the success of the project.

Dave’s 15 years of experience include working for Corning, Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Eastman Kodak and Joslyn Sterilizer Corporation.

He holds a M.S. in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from Rochester Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from SUNY at Buffalo.

Dave is married with 2 children and enjoys skiing, bicycling, motorcycling (street and trail) and Music. He coaches Youth Baseball during the summers and is an active parent participant in his children’s sport activities which include swimming, football, and cheerleading. He is an inactive member of ASME.

Stuart R. McFarlane
Vice-President

Stu McFarlane has been vice-president and a co-founding member of Viewpoint Systems since 1992. As a lead engineer, Stu’s primary responsibility is the development of custom software, systems integration and new products. Stu works closely with our largest managed accounts, many of which are Fortune 100 companies. Stu is embedded within our client’s organizations and works hand and hand with our engineers in solving difficult challenges. Stu’s engineering knowledge is geared to providing future solutions to our client’s problems / issues that eliminate both soft and hard dollars costs which can drastically reduce our clients overall budgets.

Stu has over 20 years of professional experience. Prior to Viewpoint, Stu was employed with both Delco Products and Keithley Asyst Software Technologies.

Stu holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Engineering and Management Institute. Stu is a father of three and enjoys golf in his spare time with his wife Laura.  Stu enjoys the community of Spencerport and is very active as a coach in several youth sports.

Dave Philipson
Senior Software Engineer-Group Leader

Dave has over 18 years experience in the area of software development with emphasis on data acquisition hardware and software integration. Dave is a lead instructor / educator in LabVIEW training. As a group leader, Dave manages an engineering staff, the scheduling of project assignments and is involved in interviewing, training and mentoring of new staff members. Dave still maintains a role as a Senior Software Engineer.

Prior to Dave’s 10+ years at Viewpoint Systems, Dave was employed by both Keithley Instruments, Inc and Metrosonics, Inc.

Dave Holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from State University of New York College of Technology. He also has an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Hudson Valley Community College. Dave continued his advancement studies at the University of Rochester while taking Data Structure Courses in their Computer Science Program. Dave resides in upstate NY with his wife and two children.

David M. Smith
Vice President

Dave Smith hasbeen vice-president and a co-founding member of Viewpoint Systems since 1992. As a senior software engineer, Dave has been involved in various Viewpoint Systems projects. His concentration has been in developing and managing technically demanding software for many different operating systems. Dave has also worked with many outside companies to develop and assist new designs to enhance the retrieval of end-user data. Dave has had great success in implementing a wide variety of OS drivers for various pieces of hardware that are used by both Viewpoint Systems and its clients.

Dave has over 20 years of professional experience.  Dave was employed with Keithley Asyst Software Technologies prior to Viewpoint Systems.

Dave holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.
